Position Overview
The Sales Executive will work closely with the Insurance Director and the sales teams to build client relationships and close new business. This individual will be responsible for supporting agency growth and also account retention goals by providing extraordinary client service, proactively expanding client relationships, and marketing the benefits of services provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Solicits new business from current and prospective clients; maintains ongoing business relationships with current clients to uncover opportunities for additional cross-selling.
  • Achieves assigned agency growth and account retention goals by following the agency’s strategic sales process.
  • Collaborates with the sales teams to make group sales calls where appropriate to improve the opportunity for new business development.
  • Builds and fosters relationships with clients, carrier marketing representatives, team members, and underwriters.
  • Effectively utilizes the agency’s CRM and agency management system to track prospects and maintain client files.
  • Maintains an active role in community affairs to improve visibility in the area; serves on various civic committees to increase community involvement.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all insurance and financial commercial products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs.
  • Applies problem solving techniques to various issues concerning cancellations, claims, renewal issues, and carrier issues.
  • Responds to client inquiries, incoming e-mail, mail, and company requests in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills through effective verbal and/or written exchanges, active listening, and respectful responses.
  • Handles escalated or difficult client service issues with tact and diplomacy, even in the absence of the Director. Strives to resolve problems with a win/win solution.
  • Follows established agency workflows with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates excellent computer and technical skills; has a strong aptitude and willingness for learning new systems.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information related to clients, customers, employees, carriers, or as appropriate, other information.
  • Participates in courses for insurance/sales skills. Maintains current knowledge of underwriting requirements of carriers. Keeps current with industry trends by reading appropriate journals and company bulletins.
  • Strives to increase knowledge and/or enhance skills through continuing education.
  • *Education & Qualifications
  • Required licenses for insurance specialty (ex. Property & Casualty, Life & Health, etc.)
  • Working towards or completion of CIC or CPCU designation strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of building strong business to business relationships to achieve sales goals
  • A minimum of two to four years’ experience in related positions normally required
  • Knowledge of all lines of commercial insurance and unique needs of southeastern PA market
  • Thorough knowledge of agency operations, including claims handling, procedures, carrier rating, agency management systems and applicable insurance laws/codes
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and risk management techniques
  • Experience using Applied Epic or similar customer relationship management system strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience) strongly preferred

Skill(s)
Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of commercial insurance products; proficient PC skills, including knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 40 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills; valid driver’s license is required.
